Letter: Ben McAdams is our ‘Clinton’ in sheep’s clothing

Twenty years ago today, Ben McAdams sat in an office working as an intern for President Bill Clinton. This was just the beginning of a long relationship between McAdams and the Clintons.

Since then, McAdams has worked with the Clintons in various and significant capacities. As the Democratic candidate for Utah’s 4th District, McAdams might just be another “Clinton” packed with all the same policies and practices as the political duo.

There are far too many people who are unaware of the close relationship between McAdams and the Clintons. For years, he has worked closely with Bill and Hillary Clinton. He first worked as a press lead and intern for President Clinton from 1998 to 2001, during which time he also worked on the advance team for Hillary Clinton’s campaign for the U.S. Senate in 2000. He then worked on the Utah steering committee for her presidential campaign in 2007 and was a member of “Mormons for Hillary” in Utah during her campaign in 2016. Not to mention that a few years earlier, during his mayoral campaign, McAdams was endorsed by Bill Clinton at a fundraising event.

Again and again, we see the Clintons’ presence in McAdams’ political career.

With a relationship like this, we have to ask ourselves some questions regarding Mayor McAdams: Does he harbor the same or similar policy ideas as his political allies? Does he agree with the Clintons when it comes to supporting abortion? Does he also want to take away our Second Amendment rights? Is he a staunch supporter of Obamacare?

These are questions McAdams needs to answer in the coming months. His actions are already beginning to reflect his close ties to the Clintons. If elected, McAdams may simply prove to be a “Clinton” in sheep’s clothing.
