The letter by Steven Pappas (Tribune, July 8) is just the most recent of the many letters appearing from time to time in the Tribune that lay out a rational basis for voters to vote Democratic as the only way to get our elected officials to respond to the wishes of the electorate.
The facts are genuine, the reasoning valid, but facts and reasoning are not enough. The sad truth is that the only thing that would persuade Utah’s majority citizenry to abandon their knee-jerk Republican reflex is if the majorities of the LDS Church’s First Presidency were to respect facts and valid reasoning and were then to vote Democratic.
