The Utah Legislature passed bill HB155, which lowers the alcohol level for DUI arrests. This will target women, who typically weigh less than men, and women who do not have the means to pay fines that vary between $1,700 and $10,000. Many women will be jailed, leaving children to be placed in foster homes or with relatives. In addition, jail time may mean losing a job or making it harder to find work in the future.
