Letter: Here’s what Rep. Curtis should have said about the King affair

In defending his actions (to The Tribune editorial board March 23) in the John King affair, Rep. John Curtis is more interested in how the affair will affect his career than in the harm it caused the women assaulted. “This hurts fundraising,” he states. “This hurts when you want to be chairman of a committee.”

Had I been his communication director, this is what I would have him say: “My actions as mayor, in the King affair, are totally indefensible. I apologize for the hurt that it caused the women involved. I am not fit to be a public servant for the people of Utah. Therefore, I will not seek re-election in November.” These are the words of a man of honor.
