Editor’s note: The Salt Lake Tribune is reducing but not discontinuing reviews of arts performances based on months of market research, national trends and analysis of what our readers are actually reading. While change can be difficult, we remain committed to providing Utahns with excellent and engaging arts stories.

The Public Forum on Sunday, March 25, contained two letters noting a lack of arts coverage. I serve as a board member for the Pioneer Theatre Company and was recently told at a board meeting that The Tribune intends to discontinue reviews of arts performances. I think that is a decision that will negatively impact the arts community in your service area. The reviews in The Tribune raise the awareness of excellent performances and offerings that people might otherwise overlook.

I have personally been benefited by learning of what is available and good. I subscribe to the print edition of The Tribune and certainly hope you are not making a decision based on “clicks” and the behavior of online subscribers.
