Maybe it is trendy to come across as an oligarch, to run counter to the teachings of the Savior, to embarrass the people of Utah and the LDS Church or to make the North Ogden voters look like dorks.
If so, may God help us.
To rescind legislation that endowed legal migrants and their children access to basic health care the first five years they are here, as state Sen. Allen Christensen has proposed, is far out.
It is far out from being humane and from being sensible in helping them get established. It is detrimental to their future well-being and productivity that we all, not just they, have a vested interest in.
To say the senator’s reasoning is full of holes is a gross understatement: It is insufferable. We are talking about very basic health care, not the Cadillac plans of the well-endowed.
The debate should not be on whether or not to pull legal migrant health care, but rather it should be on how to get Allen Christensen out of the Legislature ASAP. In my opinion, he has made a joke of himself and we shouldn’t risk joining his status.
