In recent news we learned that a second billion-dollar, taxpayer-funded SpaceX rocket suffered an RUD — Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly — a disingenuous euphemism for “it exploded” — an acronym coined by Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX.
Does anyone see the irony of Elon Musk, being the chief executive appointed head of DOGE, the new department created by executive order to find and eliminate waste in government? Musk is merrily “RUDing” agencies and departments — HHS, NIH, NPS, NOAA, VA, FAA, etc. — that provide essential services, safety and benefits for “We the People”, while he unapologetically watches his billion-dollar space toys disintegrate.
Where are the voices of our state and federal legislators to condemn these actions that threaten the existence of agencies that have so dramatically benefited and protected our state and its people? I plead that they will wake up and do what they were elected to do: support and defend our state and federal constitutions.
