Utah Sen. Mike Lee wins reelection, beating independent challenger Evan McMullin in unprecedented Senate race

Utah Sen. Mike Lee defeated independent challenger Evan McMullin on Tuesday night, in what has been the closest and most expensive U.S. Senate competition Utah has seen in decades.

Utah Reps. Moore, Stewart, Curtis and Owens sail to reelection in 2022 midterms

All four of Utah’s Republican U.S. House representatives are heading back to Washington for two more years. The Associated Press called its first Utah race for Rep. Blake Moore at 9:37 p.m Tuesday evening. The AP later called the race for Rep. John Curtis at 10:52 p.m., and later called the race for Reps. Chris Stewart and Burgess Owens 11:01 p.m. and 11:07 p.m., respectively.

Utah Legislature midterm races: Trevor Lee takes early, narrow lead over write-in candidate Steven Handy

Early results on Tuesday night showed Trevor Lee ahead of Steven Handy by about 1,000 votes, 47.1 to 37.7 percent. There could be a lot more ballots to count before there is a winner. In 2020, more than 17,000 ballots were cast in this race.

Salt Lake County D.A. race: Incumbent Sim Gill poised to win fourth term

Early returns show Democratic incumbent Sim Gill is leading in the race for Salt Lake County district attorney as of about 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Results: Salt Lake, Utah, Summit and Washington county clerk races

Results started rolling in Tuesday night for six counties that have competitive races — Salt Lake, San Juan, Summit, Washington, Utah and Wayne counties. Two candidates — Democrat Lannie Chapman and Republican Goud Maragani — are vying to replace the retiring Sherrie Swensen, who served as the county’s clerk for over 30 years.

Proposition 2: Ballot initiative to split Alpine school district up short in Utah County

A ballot initiative that would create a new school district in Orem was failing on Tuesday night, with 73% of voters against it. Proposition 2 would have split Alpine School District, the largest district in Utah.

SLC voters giving thumbs-up to $85M parks bond

Voters in Salt Lake City appeared to be overwhelmingly in favor of taking on $85 million in new debt for parks, trails and open space. According to unofficial returns late Tuesday night, nearly 7 in 10 (69%) of city voters backed the measure. Almost 31% cast ballots against it.
