5 Utah airports receive a combined $2.3 million in grants

Five Utah airports won a combined $2.3 million in federal grants that were announced Tuesday to help improve their facilities.

They were part of $1.2 billion in airport safety grants announced by Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao and given to 405 airports in 50 states and six territories. In Utah, they include:

• $1,052,631 for Cedar City Regional Airport to install airport beacons, reconstruct a taxiway and seal apron surface pavement and joints.

• $691,500 for Wendover Airport to improve drainage, reconstruct runway lighting and repair the runway.

• $403,642 for the Logan-Cache Airport to acquire land for approaches.

• $88,243 for Spanish Fork Airport/Springville-Woodhouse Field to install weather-reporting equipment.

• $57,508 for Roosevelt Municipal Airport to reconstruct the runway.

“This $1.2 billion federal investment will improve our nation’s airport infrastructure, enhance safety and strengthen growth in local communities, which is especially important as the economy recovers from COVID-19,” Chao said.
