Second lady Karen Pence will appear in Salt Lake City on Friday as President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign files paperwork to appear on the ballot in Utah next year.
Pence, wife of Vice President Mike Pence, will deliver remarks to the news media Friday morning during an event in the Utah Capitol.
Trump’s campaign will file the documents to meet the requirements for appearing on the statewide Republican primary ballot for the 2020 election, according to a news release. The release goes on to say that Trump has kept his 2016 campaign promises by delivering economic growth in Utah, which he carried with about 45% of the vote in the last general election.
“It’s no surprise President Trump won the Beehive State in 2016: his Administration continues to improve the daily lives of Utahns with his prosperous platform,” the release states.
The vice president last made a public appearance in Utah in August, touting the strength of the U.S. economy during a visit to Merit Medical, a medical device manufacturing company based in South Jordan.
