Here’s what to know about today’s election

Utahns across the Wasatch Front who haven’t already cast their ballots by mail ahead of Election Day have the opportunity Tuesday to weigh in on the future of their cities by voting on local leadership.

Among the biggest seats at stake this year is in the state’s capital city, where state Sen. Luz Escamilla and Salt Lake City Councilwoman Erin Mendenhall are facing off in Salt Lake City’s first general election ballot that has featured two women for mayor.

The city also has three council seats up for grabs, with incumbents in all running for reelection.
