Blaze is finally out at 25,000-square-foot Holladay home; cause is under investigation

The Unified Fire Authority is investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a 25,000-square-foot home in Holladay over the weekend— a blaze that began Saturday night and continued to burn until Sunday night.

The home, at 6085 S. 2930 East, is a total loss. There’s no immediate dollar estimate of the losses.

Crews from four agencies — about 85 firefighters — were called to the home at 8:30 p.m. Saturday and initially began fighting the fire from inside. But those crews were pulled out when the main floor began to collapse. The blaze was largely controlled by early Sunday morning, but continued to smoke throughout the day as firefighters worked from outside to extinguish it.

The owners were not at home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries, according to fire officials.
