St. George, Utah • St. George Regional Airport in southwestern Utah was closed Wednesday to landings and takeoffs by airplanes until Sept. 26 for runway repairs.
Airport officials said helicopters can continue to use the airport during the closure.
According to The Spectrum , the current runway was constructed eight years ago and was expected to last 20 years but needs to be replaced because it is extremely bumpy and has required patching due to underlying clay that has expanded a various rates.
