Law enforcement • The drugs were found during a traffic stop.

Two Utah County women were arrested and $28,000 worth of methamphetamine, heroin and prescription painkillers seized after what began as a traffic stop Monday night.

Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon said detectives pulled over the suspects' car about 7:30 p.m. in Orem, after noticing the driver was texting while the vehicle was in motion.

The driver, 38-year-old Kelli Dawn Clark of Springville, also was driving on a suspended license.

Cannon said Clark, and passenger Breanna Jenee Ketler, 25, also of Springville, had earlier drawn law enforcement attention when spotted making several stops to meet with known drug users.

"During the course of the stop, detectives discovered a half-pound of methamphetamine, over an ounce of heroin, and several different kinds of prescription medications," Cannon said.

The women were arrested and booked into the Utah County jail, where they remained without bail Tuesday on suspicion of multiple felony counts of possessing drugs with intent to distribute.

Clark also was booked for driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as well as misdemeanor violations related to the texting and here suspended driver's license.

The Utah Department of Adult Probation and Parole has put a hold on Clark for allegedly violating terms of her probation.
