Salt Lake County jail officials are investigating the death of an inmate, but do not suspect foul play.
Jail Sgt. Cammie Skogg said that 29-year-old Dustin Bliss Jr. was found unconscious and unresponsive just before 6 a.m. on July 7, inside a holding cell where he had been left after having been booked by West Valley City police Paramedics and staff were unable to resuscitate Bliss, and he was pronounced dead at the scene about 10:30 p.m. on July 6.
Jail officials, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation, have declined to release further details, but Skogg did say there were so signs of foul play.
She said investigators await results of an autopsy, including blood toxicology screening.
Bliss had been arrested on several outstanding warrants, including the most recent, issued June 23 for his arrest on new felony charges including possession of a controlled substance and fleeing police.
