Amazon is hiring for 250 part-time and full-time positions at a new Salt Lake City facility, where same-day orders and deliveries will be prepared.
A 150,000-square-foot “mini” fulfillment center, located at 6338 W. 700 North, is expected to launch in early November, and area customers will start getting deliveries in December, according to a news release.
Prime members living in the Salt Lake City area “will be able to receive orders approximately five hours from when they make their purchases,” the release states.
“Our employees will be part of making history with this first-of-its-kind facility in Salt Lake City,” Steve Volk, site leader, said in a statement. “... From operating equipment and packing customer orders, to counting inventory and helping build and dispatch deliveries, our employees will have countless opportunities to learn new roles and build critical job skills while enjoying flexible work schedules.”
The starting hourly pay for the open positions is $15.50, with health and dental coverage and paid time off. Amazon is also offering a $3,000 signing bonus for new hires who start before Dec. 25. Employees can also participate in the company’s Upskilling and Career Choice programs within three months of starting.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma, or the equivalent. People who are interested can learn more at shorturl.at/dpIX2 or by texting SLCNOW to 77088.
Amazon is also launching a new delivery station next year in Marriott-Slaterville, near Ogden, but a specific date has not been announced.
This new fulfillment center in Salt Lake City is in addition to an 855,000-square-foot facility, located at 777 N. 5600 West near the Salt Lake City International Airport, that opened a few years ago.
