A lawn-care company that received an $807,000 state tax incentive to expand its operations in Utah is moving its local headquarters from Millcreek to Salt Lake City.
TaskEasy selected a site on the northeast corner of 700 South and West Temple for its 39,500-square-foot office building. The structure is projected to house 191 new employees that the company is required to add over the next five years to secure tax rebates from the Governor’s Office of Economic Development board. Rebates would be granted as hiring targets are met.
The company has said it expects to invest $6.5 million into the property.
Vince McCullum said TaskEasy had considered several locations for the headquarters facility, most prominently, Silicon Valley in California, and unspecified states south of Utah, but picked Salt Lake City for several reasons.
“Our new location sits just off a TRAX station, giving our employees a variety of commuting options to and from work, along with the amenities of being downtown,” McCullum said. “Being in the city also keeps us within the Silicon Slopes branding effort and connected to the tech ecosystem. The name recognition of Salt Lake City was very important to us.”
Lara Fritts, Salt Lake City’s economic development director, said her team was pleased with its success in helping TaskEasy to find a suitable site in Utah’s capital city.
“We know Salt Lake City offers TaskEasy the resources and amenities needed as they continue to expand their lawn care footprint to a global scale,” she added.
TaskEasy had been at 1521 E. 3900 South in Millcreek. The company allows customers, both individual homeowners and managers of multiple-unit complexes, to order lawn-care services through its website and its mobile app.
GOED officials said the incentive was given in hopes of generating $50.8 million in new wages and $5.4 million in new state tax revenues over the life of the agreement.
