Park City High School alum Matt Warren finds thrills at ‘Delicate Arch’

Horror film inspired by a camping trip filmmaker took with his friends.

Filmmaker Matt Warren returns to his old stomping grounds with his feature, “Delicate Arch.”

The Park City High School and University of Utah graduate filmed the 90-minute horror film, which started streaming on Screambox earlier this week, in Moab and Salt Lake City.

“Principal photography was pretty auspicious for a horror film,” he said. “We started filming on Oct. 31, 2022, and basically shot up until Thanksgiving week. So, we shot 17 days over three weeks.”

The film, which follows a group of friends who embark on a camping trip in Moab, is inspired by Warren’s own experience.

“Part of the story is autobiographical, but it’s an absurd take on the dynamic that existed between me and my friend group during college,” he said. “The film was extremely informed by this one particular trip with some of my friends that sort of mirrors what happens in the film. I sort of extrapolated that out in this weird, uncanny scenario.”
