Salt Lake City airport will offer nonstop flights to a new California destination for less than $60

The new service will connect Utahns to a wealth of Northern California cities.

Salt Lake City residents will have a new option to sip their favorite flights this fall.

Avelo Airlines will start nonstop service from Salt Lake City to California’s Sonoma County this October, allowing residents to fly to Wine Country twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays. One-way fares start at $57, according to a news release from Salt Lake City International Airport, and flights will take off Oct. 24.

“We are thrilled to announce our new nonstop service from Salt Lake City to the Bay Area/Sonoma County, offering travelers a convenient, reliable and affordable way to one of the most beautiful and vibrant regions in Northern California,” Andrew Levy, Avelo Airlines founder and CEO, said in the release. “We look forward to inspiring travel this fall to Sonoma County and inspiring Northern Californians to explore all the Beehive State has to offer.”

California is one of Utah’s most popular destinations, Salt Lake City Department of Airports Executive Director Bill Wyatt said in the release. The new service will offer easy access beyond Wine Country to other destinations like San Francisco and San Jose, which are an hour or two away by rental car.

“This new nonstop service to the Bay Area/Sonoma County is a plus for our passengers,” Wyatt added. “The additional gates the airport built as part of ‘The New SLC’ has made this new service possible.”

Houston-based Avelo Airlines took off in April 2021 and has flown more than 5 million passengers on 40,000 flights, according to the release. The carrier currently serves 54 destinations across 24 states and three countries.
