Kolob Fire at 0% containment as structures threatened in Washington County

People camping in the area have been told to leave.

Virgin, Utah • The Kolob Fire burning near Virgin in Washington County has doubled in size one day after an evacuation order was enforced.

As of 11 a.m. Sunday, the fire was listed at over 600 acres despite minimal overnight growth, and was 0% contained. It was sparked by a camping trailer that started off Kolob Terrace Road.

No residents are being evacuated, but those staying in nearby camping resorts are being told to leave. The evacuation area includes Kolob Terrace Road to SR-7.

According to fire officials, 30-50 structures are threatened.

Strong winds and low humidity have made it difficult to battle fire, with Red Flag Warnings remaining in effect through Sunday.

The Dalton Wash Road has been closed.
