12-year-old Utah boy killed in dirt bike crash

The Utah Highway Patrol is investigating.

A 12-year-old Utah boy died Monday when the dirt bike he was riding crashed into a car in Grantsville, according to authorities.

At about 5:45 p.m., a car was heading west on State Route 138 before it turned south onto Sun Valley Drive, according to Utah Highway Patrol. The boy crashed into the passenger side of the car as he entered the same intersection.

The 12-year-old, whose name has not been released, died at the scene. No one in the car was injured.

UHP is investigating the crash. It’s unclear who had the right of way before the wreck. Troopers are also investigating whether the dirt bike had any lights on when it struck the car.
