2 dead, one injured after incident involving North Ogden family

The home was on fire when police arrived and authorities say it is a total loss.

Two people are dead and another injured after police responded to a North Ogden incident that involved a home fire Thursday.

According to the North Ogden Police Department, officers received reports of shots fired at around 7:14 p.m. and responded to the home near the 3200 block of Mountain Road. Upon arrival, a man who did not live at the home came out and began firing at the officers who fired back, killing him.

With the home on fire, officers entered the structure and found another man dead inside and a woman with non-life-threatening injuries.

The three people involved were identified as a husband, wife and brother, although it’s not known which man shot at officers and who was found inside the house.

Officials say the house was a complete loss, but the fire was contained to the one home.

The investigation into the incident is expected to last days as investigators need to make sure it’s safe to enter the home after the fire.

No police officers were seriously injured.
