A blaze in St. George displaced 15 people on Thursday night, and officials from the American Red Cross of Utah are providing assistance.
According to FOX 13, firefighters responded to a report of a fire in a backyard near 250 North 2700 East after 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The fire damaged or destroyed six homes and displaced families, but no one was injured in the blaze, the Red Cross said in a news release.
The organization’s Disaster Action Team is helping those displaced find lodging and other resources.
“These specialized volunteers provide compassion and care when it is needed most,” said Benjamin Donner, Executive Director of the American Red Cross Central & Southern Utah Chapter, in a news release. “Our staff and volunteers are also trained to provide preparedness education so families can know how to evacuate safely if a fire breaks out in their home.”
