After a sunny, warm Friday in northern Utah, chillier weather is expected to blow in this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
In Salt Lake City, temps will tumble to about 50 degrees on Saturday and remain below about 60 degrees (the normal high for this time of year) through at least Thursday. There’s also snow in the forecast for next week.
It’ll still be sunny on Saturday, though gusty winds expected in eastern Utah could knock down tree limbs, blow trash cans and unsecured items around and create crosswinds that could make driving difficult, the weather service advised.
In Salt Lake City, it’ll be mostly sunny on Sunday too, when highs will be in the mid-40s. Clouds will build up that night, bringing a slight chance of snow showers early Monday and a chance of rain that afternoon as temperatures rise to the mid-50s.
More rain is expected Monday night, changing over to snow as temperatures drop to about 33 degrees. And snow showers are likely on Tuesday, with highs in the mid-40s. Little or no accumulation is expected in the valleys, but there could be several inches in the mountains.
There’s a slight chance of more snow showers on Wednesday, with temperatures in the mid-40s. Thursday should be mostly sunny, with highs in the mid-50s.
In southern Utah, the forecast calls for warmer weather — although some unseasonably cool days are in the forecast. In St. George, expect highs in the mid-80s on Saturday, and the low to mid-70s on Monday and Tuesday. (Normal highs are 73-74 degrees.)
On Tuesday, the forecast high in St. George is 58 degrees, with a chance of rain mixed with snow. The sun will return Wednesday with highs in the mid-60s followed by highs in the low 70s on Thursday.
