A 20-year-old Texas man has been charged with aggravated kidnapping after authorities said he traveled to Utah and abducted a 14-year-old girl.
According to the charging documents, Frank David Lopez-Orellana, 20, of Houston took the girl from her Magna home on March 21. The next day, an Amber Alert was issued for the child. Police found the two in Texas later that day.
Lopez-Orellana told police he met the girl online and admitted that he communicated daily with her through “several social media platforms, even after he learned she was 14 years old,” according to a probable cause statement filed in 3rd District Court.
Police said Lopez-Orellana went on to admit that he took the girl to San Antonio, Texas, “without the consent of her parents so that they could have a physical relationship.”
A no-bail warrant has been issued for Lopez-Orellana, who also is facing a charge that alleges he sexually assaulted the girl. He is being held in Texas pending extradition to Utah.
