The first day of spring is Sunday, but Utah’s weather will feel springlike all week as temperatures fluctuate up and down, rain drizzles in the valleys and snow falls in the mountains.
According to the National Weather Service, there’s a slight chance that Tuesday’s rain will continue into early Wednesday in northern Utah. But most of the storm will move into the central part of the state, where valleys may get a tenth of an inch.
Avalanche danger was “considerable” in the northern, central and southeastern regions of Utah as of late Tuesday, according to the Utah Avalanche Center.
In Salt Lake City on Wednesday, temperatures will be about 10 degrees cooler — in the upper 40s — as the last of the clouds move out. Then it’ll be mostly sunny for several days, with a high of 50 expected on Thursday, 56 on Friday and 64 on Saturday.
Another storm is expected late Saturday, bringing a chance of showers mostly after midnight and continuing into Sunday, when the forecast high is 52. A mix of rain and snow is possible Sunday night. There’s a slight chance of rain on Monday, when the high will be in the mid-40s.
In southern Utah, expect sunny skies through Saturday. In St. George, the forecast high is 70 on Wednesday, 68 on Thursday, 72 on Friday and 75 on Saturday. There’s a slight chance of rain on Sunday as temperatures dip to about 59. The sun will return on Monday, with a high of 60.
According to the Utah Division of Air Quality, conditions will be green/good across the state for the next few days.
