A winter weather advisory is in effect — how much snow will Utah get?

The mountains and central Utah will get the most, and there’s a winter storm warning Tuesday-Wednesday in St. George.

After a spring-like weekend, winter weather has returned to Salt Lake City, where temperatures will hover well below normal for most of the week.

Tuesday’s daytime high is expected to be just 33 degrees with an overnight low of 16. The forecast also calls for highs of 28, 31 and 35 degrees on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with lows of 13, 18 and 16 degrees, respectively.

Normal highs for this time of year in Salt Lake City are 47-48; normal lows are 30-31.

A Monday storm prompted a winter weather advisory in the Wasatch Mountains through 5 a.m. Tuesday. A second winter storm is expected Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Overall, Salt Lake City may see less than a half an inch of snow Tuesday. Most of the storms’ snow will be concentrated in the mountains and in central Utah, but even the southern part of the state is expected to turn white.

In St. George, a high of 48 degrees is expected Tuesday, along with a 50% chance of snow mixed with rain during the day and a 90% chance Tuesday night.

A winter storm watch goes into effect there at 2 p.m. Tuesday and continues through 5 p.m. Wednesday, with 1-3 inches of snow possible in lower Washington County.

But some areas could see 6-12 inches of snow, including Zion, Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef national parks, as well as at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.

In St. George, temperatures will be in the 40s during the day and the 20s overnight through Friday before highs in the low 50s are expected to return on Saturday and Sunday.

Normal highs there for this time of year are 60-61; normal lows are 34-35.
