Body found in Jordan River, Salt Lake City police say

Homicide detectives responded to the scene.

A body was found in the Jordan River early Thursday, according to Salt Lake City police.

The body was discovered near 730 North Riverside Drive, police said. Officers responded just after 11 a.m.

The person found dead has not been identified. It’s unclear how they died.

Salt Lake City homicide detectives and crime lab technicians are investigating, which the police department said is standard protocol.

Three patrol vehicles were at the scene Thursday afternoon, which was located near an apparent homeless encampment on the bank of the river.

Police did not release further details. Detectives continue to investigate.
