Police in Midvale are investigating how an Amazon employee apparently suffered a gunshot wound to the leg on Saturday night.
Salt Lake City police received a call from the Amazon Fulfillment Center at 777 N 5600 W at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday about a man with a wrapped gunshot wound.
Upon arrival, police learned that the man was a new employee who had reported hearing a commotion around the area of 7900 S and Main Street in Midvale on Saturday night, then felt a burning sensation in his leg. The man then went to work at the fulfillment center, where the call to police was placed Sunday.
The man was taken to a hospital, where doctors confirmed that the wound was due to a gunshot, and that the bullet had traveled completely through his leg.
Police on Sunday initially referred to the employee as a delivery driver, but Amazon on Monday said the employee was not a driver, though he worked at the fulfillment center.
The Unified Police Department continues to investigate.
