Flash flood warnings issued for Zion National Park, Southern Utah

Flash flood warnings have been issued for Kane and Washington counties, with flooding expected in Zion National Park, Springdale and Rockville.

According to the National Weather Service, the warning for west-central Kane County and east-central Washington County is in effect until at least 8 p.m.

Southern Kane County will be under a flash flood warning until at least 8:45 p.m.

Kane County’s warning could include “life threatening flash flooding” of normally dry washes and slot canyons near House Rock Road, Wire Pass and Buckskin Gulch.

In June, flash flooding in Springdale and Zion shut down the park’s main road and littered streets with mud and debris. No injuries were reported.
