A SWAT operation ended early Wednesday morning when a suspect and a police officer were shot. Their wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.
According to Sandy police, they were serving a narcotics warrant at an apartment near 200 West and Harrison Avenue (approximately 8900 South). A SWAT team was called in and, as they were entering the apartment shortly before 5 a.m., they were met with gunfire, which they returned and struck the subject of the warrant.
The suspect and an officer who was wounded were taken to a hospital. The officer is out of surgery and expected to recover according to a 4:30 p.m. Tweet from the Sandy Police Department.
