Two more people arrested in connection with fatal shooting in Taylorsville

A woman had been arrested shortly after the shooting at the beginning of June.

Two people were arrested in connection with the murder of a man who was shot to death earlier this month in Taylorsville.

Joey Michael Duran, 30, was found bleeding outside the Atherton Park Apartments in Taylorsville on June 4. Shortly after officers found Duran, he died, according to a probable cause statement.

Police had initially arrested a 21-year-old woman who was found in a nearby apartment on suspicion of murder. On Monday, officers arrested two more people, a man and another woman, who they believe were also involved in the shooting.

The man and woman lived in the apartment where the 21-year-old woman was staying, according to the probable cause statement. An instance of domestic violence had previously been reported at the apartment, according to the statement.

During a search of the apartment, police found a gun that matched bullet casings at the crime scene, according to the statement. It’s unclear when police found the gun.

Witnesses told police that Duran went to the apartment to confront the 21-year-old about possibly being involved in the death of his friend, the statement reads. The male suspect allegedly shot Duran outside the apartment. He then allegedly fled Utah with the second female suspect.

On Monday, they returned to Utah and were arrested. Police are accusing the man of murder and the second woman of obstruction of justice. The 21-year-old woman has since been charged with obstruction of justice, but she has not been charged with murder.
