Fire burns down Sugar House office building

The fire that started around 2 a.m. Sunday also displaced six people and injured a firefighter.

A fire that erupted overnight in Sugar House burned down an office building, displaced six people from a nearby apartment, and left one firefighter injured, per FOX 13 and the Salt Lake City Fire Department.

The fire started around 2 a.m. Sunday at a building at 1110 E. Ashton Ave. The six people from the nearby apartment complex had to evacuate. Division Chief Dan Walker with the fire department said one firefighter was sent to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.

Walker said power was turned off in the area; afterward, two lines that “had significant damage” due to the fire collapsed.
