Utah reports 262 coronavirus cases, 1 death

And almost 20,000 more Utahns are fully vaccinated as of Saturday.

The state reported 262 coronavirus cases on Saturday, less than the past three Saturdays in May.

Vaccine doses administered in past day/total doses administered • 17,043 / 2,499,847.

Utahns fully vaccinated • 1,164,390.

Cases reported in past day • 262.

Deaths reported in past day • 1.

The state reported one new coronavirus-related death, a Utah County woman older than 85 who was not hospitalized at the time of her death.

Tests reported in past day • 3,957 people were tested for the first time. A total of 8,918 people were tested.

Hospitalizations reported in past day • 126. That’s 10 fewer than on Friday. Of those currently hospitalized, 51 are in intensive care, three more than on Friday.

Percentage of positive tests • Under the state’s original method, the rate is 6.6%. That’s higher than the seven-day average of 6.4%.

The state’s new method counts all test results, including repeated tests of the same individual. Saturday’s rate was 2.9%, lower than the seven-day average of 3.4%.
