Train derails in Millard County, no one is injured or killed

Some cars were carrying flammable liquids, others flour or wheat.

A train derailed Saturday evening in Millard County, but there were no injuries, according to the Millard County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Robert Clark said 10-15 train cars derailed shortly after 5 p.m. near milepost 25 on State Route 257. He said the department doesn’t yet know why it derailed.

Clark said six of the cars were carrying flammable liquids, but said the liquids are contained to the railroad right of way. He said there are no nearby waterways that are affected. The remaining cars were carrying bulk flour, wheat and other commodities.

Clark said no roads were impacted by the derailment.
