Ogden fire officials are investigating the cause of a house fire that killed a man on Sunday.
Crews were called to a house at 2867 Lincoln Ave. at 7:37 p.m. Sunday, and found “active fire coming from the attic,” according to Ogden Fire Department deputy chief Shelby Willis. Firefighters were unable to locate anyone inside at first, but they later found the body of a man in a closet. The victim, whose name has not been released, is believed to have been in his 60s.
According to Willis, the home was vacant and the front door had been padlocked. The victim is believed to have entered through the back door, and the fire began in the rear of the home and spread to the attic — blocking the man from exiting the way he went in.
The house did not have working smoke detectors, and fire officials are unsure if the power was turned on.
