A magnitude 4.4 earthquake hit central Utah about 10 miles southwest of Circleville at 5:47 a.m. Saturday, according to the University of Utah Seismograph Stations.
It was felt as far away as Bryce Canyon, some 50 miles south.
The U. reports that it has tracked 45 earthquakes of at least a magnitude 3 in the Circleville area since 1962 and that the largest was a 4.6 in 2011.
Circleville, in Piute County, is off of Highway 89 and is east of Beaver.
A few aftershocks were felt after Saturday’s main tremor. So far there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
