More than 400 people gathered Saturday evening at the Capitol in Salt Lake City to protest Gov. Gary Herbert’s order that all K-12 schools in Utah require face coverings to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
People carried signs that read “un-mask the children” and “kids need oxygen.” Others compared masks to tyranny and child abuse.
There were some speeches, and children ripped up a giant paper mask. Protesters also played a version of pin the tail on the donkey, where they placed a mask on a picture of Herbert.
The protest was organized by Utah Business Revival, according to the Facebook event.
