Divers have found the body of a 30-year-old man who went missing on Friday at Jackson Flat Reservoir.
Abraham Knudson of Kanab went missing Friday afternoon, according to a report received about 5 p.m. by the Kane County Sheriff’s Dispatch Center. A female acquaintance told officials that she last saw Knudson at Jackson Flat Reservoir in Kanab City.
The Kane County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue team immediately started a ground and water search for Knudson, while a medical helicopter from Page, Ariz., searched from the air for two hours. Efforts continued several hours after dark with trained search dogs, kayaks and spotlights, but the rescue team was unable to locate Knudson.
Officials also sent out public notifications via its telephone system and Facebook page in case Knudson had walked back to town or left the area, and someone had seen him.
The Utah Department of Public Safety Dive Team launched another search early Saturday afternoon with sonar equipment. About an hour later, two divers recovered a body, which matched Knudson’s description.
The official cause of death is under investigation with the assistance of the Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office.
