Two people died after a small plane crashed in Cedar City on Sunday morning.
Two men, ages 52 and 63, were in a single-engine plane that hit a 300-foot communications tower near 6500 W. 4000 South at 8:45 a.m. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
Cedar Communications received a distress call about 5 miles south of the Cedar City Regional Airport.
The names of the two men have not been released. Neither man is from the Iron County area.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident.
“Our thoughts and prayer are with the families of the victims at this time,” the Iron County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
The crash in Cedar City is the latest in a string of plane crashes in the past month. Three people died after a plane crashed in West Jordan last week, and four people died after a plane went down in American Fork Canyon in early July.
