Police have identified the two young boys who authorities believe were shot to death by their father in their South Jordan home Tuesday.
Seth Osborn, 8, and Ezra Osborn, 10, both died of gunshots wounds, according to South Jordan police. Their father, Brian Osborn, 41, is believed to have killed them; he was found dead in the home of an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Police were called to the boys’ home on Pentenwell Lane in the Daybreak development shortly after 4 p.m. The boys’ mother, Sandra Ang, had returned home and found Seth seriously wounded. When officers arrived, they discovered the bodies of Ezra and Brian Osborn elsewhere in the house.
Seth was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he died.
Sandra Ang and Brian Osborn’s divorce was finalized in October 2019. According to a news release from South Jordan police, they had “previously dealt with the family on noncriminal domestic issues, but had not had contact with them since November 2019.” There is no record of any restraining orders or domestic violence complaints involving Brian Osborn in Utah records.
According to police, Brian Osborn was at the home on Tuesday afternoon watching the boys while their mother was at work. He had not lived there for “several months.”
Neighbors have set up a GoFundMe page to help the family pay for funeral expenses for the two boys. As of midafternoon Wednesday, it had raised more than $42,000.
According to the GoFundMe page, 10-year-old Ezra was “an artistic, imaginative boy who loved to throw parties. He loved making others feel special and was an amazing friend." And 8-year-old Seth was “a ball of energy! He loved to be outside, play Nerf gun wars with his friends, and finding adventures wherever he could.”
