A Salt Lake City man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault and possession of a deadly weapon by a restricted person.
The man, a convicted felon, allegedly assaulted his pregnant girlfriend on March 24 by punching her and hitting her with a pistol while he was driving, per the probable cause statement. He first pointed the gun at her and hit her with it on the left side of her face and her arm. The woman attempted to fight back, causing the man to drop the firearm.
That’s when the man proceeded to punch her repeatedly and later threaten her life.
“[He] told the victim that he was going to take her to Idaho to kill her and bury her body,” the probable cause statement says.
The victim escaped by jumping out of the moving car. The man then yelled that if she did not get in the car, he would kill her.
The woman ran to the nearest house and got someone to call 911. The man then left the area.
