KUTV anchorwoman Shauna Lake arrested for DUI. It is her second time.

KUTV-Channel 2 anchorwoman Shauna Lake has been arrested for driving under the influence — again.

Lake, 49, was arrested at the Salt Lake City International Airport on Friday night, according to Salt Lake City police. She was parked in the passenger pickup area when she was approached by an officer. Lake declined a field sobriety test; results of a blood alcohol test have not yet been completed.

KUTV news director Michael Garber said he could not comment on Lake’s arrest. He also declined to comment when asked if Lake would continue to anchor the news at Channel 2.

Lake had previously been charged with DUI in May 2017. According to court documents, her blood alcohol content was .10% — above Utah’s .08% limit at the time. Utah’s legal limit has since been lowered to .05%.

In July 2017, Lake pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of impaired driving, a class B misdemeanor. As part of the plea agreement, misdemeanor counts of using license plates registered to another vehicle, having an expired license plate and having an open alcohol container in her vehicle were dropped. She was sentenced to a year of probation, fined $1,460 and ordered to complete eight hours of community service.

In an on-air apology to KUTV viewers at the time, Lake said she was “ashamed and humiliated” by her arrest, and went on to say, “I have been humbled and overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from so many of you during this difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the sentiments of ‘Keep your chin up.’ ‘We all make mistakes.’ ‘I’m praying for you.’ And ‘This too shall pass.’

“I also know that some of you are very angry and disappointed in me, and you have every right to be. What I did was wrong. And I just hope over time, night by night, you can learn to trust me again.”
