Vigil held in Salt Lake City for woman allegedly killed by boyfriend

Friends and supporters gathered to remember 34-year-old Natalie Thurber on Thursday night outside the apartment where she was allegedly shot and killed by her boyfriend earlier this week.

The man is also accused of shooting a Salt Lake City police officer who responded to a 911 call at the scene near 125 S. 300 East. The officer is expected to recover.

Attendees told FOX13 they wanted to remember Thurber’s life and not dwell on how she died.

Nicole Young, one of Thurber’s friends, told FOX 13, “She was a lover. She was funny. She was hardcore. She was no wuss."

The alleged shooter was booked into Salt Lake County jail Tuesday on suspicion of aggravated murder and other related offenses. He has not yet been charged.

SLCPD officers also attended the vigil, where supporters set up a memorial outside the window of the bathroom where Thurber was found dead, FOX 13 reports.
