A Tooele man who was aboard a cruise ship stuck in quarantine off the coast of Japan has been diagnosed with a coronavirus.
John Haering and his wife, Melanie, were among 3,700 passengers on the Diamond Princess when John Haering developed a fever earlier this week, FOX 13 reports. The fever went away but came back on Wednesday, and he was removed from the ship for testing at a hospital.
He tested positive for COVID-19, which is a type of coronavirus.
“I don’t like the situation I’m in," he told FOX 13. “Health-wise, I feel good, no respiratory problems, fever, any problems whatsoever, but I’m detained. ... I don’t have my freedom to leave.”
