Utah County police found a 9-year-old boy who went missing from Vineyard on Wednesday afternoon in downtown Salt Lake City later that evening.
Orson Bergeron was last seen in the area near Main Street and 630 North around 3 p.m. wearing black dress pants, black shoes, a green jacket with fuzzy camo lining and a blue and black Lego backpack, according to a news release from the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office. The boy has been diagnosed with reactive attachment disorder and is afraid of the dark and traumatized by loud noises, the department said.
The Utah County Sheriff Search and Rescue team was searching for Bergeron by air Wednesday night, according to a tweet from Spencer Cannon, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office.
Cannon tweeted around 7:30 p.m. that a “concerned citizen” saw Bergeron at a TRAX station, thought he looked out of place and called Utah Transit Authority officials.
“They are taking Orson home now,” he wrote. “Thanks to everyone for their help! Special thanks to the concerned citizen who acted!”
