25-year-old man dies one week after Salt Lake City shooting

A 25-year-old man has died after a shooting at a Salt Lake City apartment complex late last month.

Terrance Jefferies Jr. was one of two people injured in the confrontation on Nov. 27. After his death Friday at a hospital — about one week following the fight — police say they are now investigating the case as a homicide.

The shooting happened just after 11 a.m. that day, said Salt Lake City police Detective Greg Wilking, at the Skyhouse apartment building, 308 W. North Temple.

A man stopped at one of the rooms there and argued with the two people inside. He then fired, hitting and injuring both, before he fled. Jefferies, who lived there, has since died. And the second person injured is recovering.

Police are searching for the suspect, who Wilking said they are not describing “at this time.” It’s unclear how that man knew the two individuals he shot or what they were fighting about.

“We’re not quite sure on that relationship,” Wilking added.

Officers are asking anyone with information on the case to call 801-799-3000.
