Police say a shooting outside a Salt Lake City concert began Friday night after an argument, and all three of the injured are expected to recover.
No arrests have been made.
Salt Lake City police have asked anyone with information to call 801-799-3000 and reference case number 19-220543.
The shooting happened about 10 p.m. Friday on 100 South between 500 West and 600 West. Salt Lake City police Lt. Carlos Valencia on Friday said a white car drove past three people along the street and someone in the car began shooting.
One of the victims returned fire with his own gun, Valencia said. One person was shot in the chest and one person was shot in the foot, Valencia said. He did not know the injuries of the third person.
Salt Lake City police later issued a tweet saying all three victims would survive. On Monday, Sgt. Keith Horrocks said the parties in the shooting appear to have gang affiliations.
“Sometimes these things that are gang-related like this," Horrocks said, "it’s hard to get cooperation.”
The shooting happened outside The Complex music club. Horrocks on Monday didn’t know if the victims or suspects had been to the concert. The hip-hop group Shoreline Mafia was performing.
The show ended a few minutes after the shooting and shortly after Vivint Smart Home Arena, two blocks away, was evacuated for a bomb scare. The two scenes made for a stream of flashing police lights on the west edge of downtown.
The bomb concern turned out to be a false alarm, but music fans leaving the concert had to navigate around or under police tape. Some people had to wait for police to finish looking for bullet casings before they could leave.
