(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Fire crews battle a fire in Davis County in Utah on the East Bountiful bench that grew to 150 acres early Friday morning, Aug. 30, 2019, and destroyed three homes.

Authorities in northern Utah are lifting evacuation orders for residents of hundreds of homes in a Salt Lake City suburb after a wildfire burned three homes and damaged eight others.

Officials on Saturday announced the lifting of evacuation orders effective 11 a.m. for 240 homes in Bountiful. Evacuation orders for 160 homes in adjacent Centerville were lifted earlier.

The fire burned 0.7 sq. mile (148 hectares) and remained at 10 percent containment Saturday.

Officials said a campfire started the fire and that strong winds blew it down from mountains into residential neighborhoods.

No injuries were reported.
