Weather: Rain possible for Utah-BYU game as the heat rises across the state

Salt Lake City will stay in the 80s Tuesday and then the temperatures climb to 100 degrees over the holiday weekend.

The National Weather Service says Salt Lake City will reach the upper 80s on Tuesday. The temperatures move into the mid-90s for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Saturday, the heat will increase to the upper 90s. Then Sunday, the weather service is predicting the temperature to reach 100 degrees. On Labor Day, the temperature will return to the mid-90s.

The National Weather Service says there’s a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms when the University of Utah and Brigham Young University football teams play 8:15 p.m. Thursday in Provo. The temperatures are supposed to decline into the 60s Thursday night in Provo.

In St. George, Tuesday is supposed to be the hottest day in the forecast with a high of 106 degrees. The temperatures are supposed to stay in the 100s through Sunday. There’s also a chance of rain in St. George on Wednesday.
